In the context of the a Beacon, Shadows are the counterpart to that Beacon's Lenses. They are to be avoided, but also to be understood especially as they contrast with the goals of that Beacon. The first kind are the Looming Shadows, which are the obvious opposite of a given Lense, and should be easy to avoid and train against. The second kind are the Flickering Shadows, which could be confused with the associated Lenses, because they are quite similar to the Lense, while actually being a harmful or negative counterpart.
